The Swedish Championship in Streetfood is the Nordic region's leading championship in this category of cooking, which is often served from food trucks. The competition started in 2016 then only with a focus on food trucks, which was then a relatively new phenomenon on the city streets.
For the first year, the competition has competitions in Malmö, Stockholm and Gothenburg. The final will be held in Gothenburg on 1 September and the winners will be presented at the honorary award ceremony on 2 September.
This year, the new category "Street Design Awards" is also launched, which highlights that it is not just about food. Attitude, sustainability and the style of serving are taken into account.
In addition to competitions in three cities and a new category, the number of competitors is record high. The dedicated jury gets to try food from 140 competitors with street food and sweet food from all corners of the world.
The Street Food Festival collaborates with Gothenburg's Kulturkalas.
The jury includes some of Sweden's top chefs and food journalists with Titti Qvarnström, Alex Sjögren, Tove Henckel, Gustav Trägårdh, Sofia B Olsson, Albin Edberg and many more who test themselves full at the festival's three selected cities.
The Street Food Festival is part of the Gothenburg Culture Festival.
